What To Expect In Our Worship
Every first day of the week, as commanded by God, we gather together and worship our God in Spirit and in Truth (John 4.23,24). During this time of worship we participate in singing praises to God, prayer, taking of the Lord’s Supper, Giving back to God and we hear a message from God’s Word.
We partake of the Lord’s Supper and in doing so we are reminded about the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is because of this sacrifice that we have forgiveness of sins. We are reminded about His death, burial and resurrection. We do this every first day of the week as commanded by God and the example given by the early church (Acts 20.7; Acts 2.42). Jesus instituted this supper on the night before his crucifixion (Parallel accounts can be found in the following verses: Matthew 26.26-29; Mark 14.22-25; Luke 22.17-10 and 1 Corinthians 11.23-26).
We praise God and Jesus through Song. We sing with our lips and our hearts. We do not use instruments of music in our worship to God. We believe that God does not give us the proper authority or example to do so in Worship (Ephesians 5.19, Colossians 3.16). We offer prayers to God during our time of worship. During this time we will offer prayer of praise to God, prayer for peace in our world, thanksgiving for all of our blessings of life, we ask for wisdom that only comes from God and we humbly ask for the forgiveness of our sins. We pray to God because we love Him (1 John 3.18) and we want to show Him our love. If you have any specific prayer request, please let one of our members know.
We give back to God with our hearts as we have prospered (1 Corinthians 16.2). We are so blessed by God in our everyday lives with our jobs and livelihoods so this is an opportunity for us to give back cheerfully (2 Corinthians 9.7). In doing so we further the work of the church in many ways. If you are visiting with us, please know that you are not expected to make a donation.
We learn from God’s Word (Acts 20.20) through the proclaiming of his word. Every Lord’s day one of our Ministers will stand before us and boldly proclaim a Scripture filled (1 Corinthians 1.17, 18) lesson that is applicable and fruit bearing to our Christian lives. During this time, please feel free to follow along in you bibles (one will be provided if you do not have one) and take notes.
What is expected of our visitors? We invite you to join in our worship to God, but do not feel pressured to do so. If you would like to just observe, please feel free to do so. During our worship you will see young men passing out little black books. These are attendance books and in those you will find a section for visitors. If you would like to, please fill out the card so that we can send you a note of appreciation for being with us. We hope to see you at Central!
