What We Believe
WORSHIP
Worship is to be done in Spirit and Truth (John 4.24). Gathering with God's family on the first day of the week to worship is one of the most vital aspects of our Christian lives. Worship is an opportunity to show God how much we love and need Him in our lives, and it allows us to encourage one another (Hebrews 10.24-25). We believe worship should be a part of our daily lives as believers (Romans 12.1-2). When you join us for worship, you'll notice its simplicity. It's not an elaborate production or program but easy to follow and understand.
MARRIAGE
Marriage is a blessing from God (Genesis 2.18, 22-24). We believe marriage is a divine contract between man, woman, and God. We believe that God gave us a pattern for marriage through His holy word. It is between one biological man and one biological woman (Genesis 1.26,27; Matthew 19.4,5).
BAPTISM
Baptism is for the remission of sins (Acts 2.38-41, 8.36-38, 16.31-33, 22.16) and, therefore, essential to salvation. Jesus tells us the only way to eternal life is through Him (John 14.6). The Bible teaches us that the only way to be in Christ is to be born again, of the water and the Spirit (John 3.1-15; Colossians 2.12; Galatians 3.27; Romans 6.1-18; 1 Peter 3.21). We are also called to live by faith in Christ, trusting Him in every aspect of our lives. Baptism is also where we receive the indwelling gift of God's Holy Spirit (Acts 2.38). The Holy Spirit guides us, convicts us, and bears the righteous fruit of God in our life.
ONE CHURCH
We believe that the church was in the mind of God and a part of his eternal purpose for us (Ephesians 3.10-11). His church was built when Jesus came to earth and stated that he would "build his church" (Matthew 16.18,19). In Acts 2, we see this church starting and building itself with the power of God. From this time, we believe the church has not only survived but thrives on being the pillar of truth (1 Timothy 3.15), to bring glory to God (Ephesians 3.21), to comfort and encourage one another (1 Thessalonians 5.11) and save as many souls as we can (Acts 20.28; Ephesians 5.23).
LOVE
We believe authentic, godly love should motivate all we do. Jesus said in Matthew 22.37-39, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself." God gave us the perfect gift and expression of love through his Son Jesus (John 3.16). While Jesus lived on earth, he lived out that expressive, perfect love in all he did. We know it isn't always easy, but we trust His guidance and power to direct our steps toward authentic love (1 Peter 2.21). We believe that because God loved us first (1 John 4.19), we are to live as reflections of that redemptive love in the world. We believe love must be honest, lasting, and the motivation for all we do (1 Corinthians 13).
DISCIPLESHIP
A Disciple is someone following Jesus, being changed by Jesus, and is committed to the mission of Jesus. In following Jesus, we live, love, and serve as he did. We understand that he set the perfect example of how we should treat and help others. In following Him, we are being transformed into his image (2 Corinthians 3.18). As we go through life as disciples, we are also committed to sharing the Good news of salvation with others. Jesus gave us this commission in Matthew 28.19-20, "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
